Summer has been moving along at a rapid pace. What is keeping me busy beside office work? I participated in a SBBK Show in June, been working refining trees this summer where appropriate and keeping thing hydrated in the sometimes nasty heat.

I did a demonstration at EBBS in June where my moniker became “get something weird.” It was a demonstration about summer work on species not often found in many collections. I spoke about Olive, grapes, ivy of various types, ficus, and the Brazilian Rain Tree.

Then came the SBBK show in early June. That is always a huge effort but worth every moment of it. I displayed my big Tiger bark ficus, the Brazilian Rain Tree, and my large pinot grape that actually was bearing fruit.

After the show, it was all about maintenance. I harvested grapes and strawberries from my accessor plant. I defoliated the tiger bark ficus and may other ficus trees. I am watering more often due to 90 degree days and prolonged heat.
