It is May and it has been a busy Spring already. Weird temperature swings, trees awaking, sleeping, waiting, and so on. Today I was out in the garden trying to plan for the SBBK June show. I am inspecting many trees, mostly Tropical species but also some of my standards. Below I will share a gallery of Spring foliage and candidates for show.

Grape gone wild. I let it blow out for the Spring and now cut it back some. I found grapes! shown in a latter image
GRAPES! First time this tree has fruited.
A different old grape in training. This had only a few leaves when purchased. We got it for the strong trunk and have been working to design foliage.
Beauty Berry coming into blossom – show candidate. I have cleaned up the elongating branches.
Pearl Berry blossom buds.
Brazilian Rain Tree, Not often seen in California is not show candidate. I have cleaned up the runners.
Algerian Ivy redevelopment is awaiting higher temperatures
Tiger Bark Ficus. Show candidate. I have been working this one for too many years.

Accent plant. From South Africa.
Redesigning this old pearl berry trunk that was given to me last year. It only had on long branch.
